Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Scientist to join our Functional Biology team with responsibility for using cellular immunology and drug discovery expertise to enable the selection and characterization of antibody-based therapeutic lead compounds. Responsibilities include developing, executing, and interpreting in vitro and/or ex vivo immune cell functional and signaling assays using primary human, primate and/or mouse cells and cell lines to support both discovery and development projects in autoimmunity and inflammation.

•   Contribute to the lead selection and characterization strategies for therapeutic antibody discovery programs, including the development and validation of novel, cellular immunological and biochemical assays
•   Provide strategic and tactical direction to project teams regarding cell-based functional assays
•   Employ expertise in cellular immunology to propose new therapeutic concepts and in vitro proof-of-concept studies to enable the initiation of new antibody-based therapeutic projects
•   Serve as a discovery Project Team Leader, working effectively as a member of multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams
•   Supervise and mentor the professional development of junior laboratory staff
•   Present and defend research findings clearly and effectively at internal and external meetings


•   Ph.D. in cell biology, immunology, biochemistry or related science with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an industrial setting, with a proven track record of developing innovative in vitro pharmacological approaches to support drug discovery programs
•   Motivated and hard-working team player with excellent leadership skills and a lead-by-example working style
•   Deep understanding of the principles of cellular immunology and how these relate to the pathogenesis and treatment of autoimmune/inflammatory disease
•   Ability to lead both functional and project teams within a matrixed, fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment as evidenced by a solid record of team productivity
•   Expertise in the design and execution of complex experimental protocols to support project advancement and patentable technologies
•   Experience with managing internal and external collaborations and supervising others to achieve research objectives
