General Description:
The Sr. Research Program Manager (SRPM) is responsible for the overall coordination and management of administrative, operational, and functions of a large longitudinal research project. The SRPM leads research and program efforts, directs the conversion to new database systems and implements reporting and quality assurance activities in the program using technical and decision-making skill. S/he will oversee the compilation and transmission of data from the Johns Hopkins HIV Clinic Cohort (JHHCC) to the CNICS Data Core at the University of Washington. S/he will have experience in observational study coordination and a basic data management background, as well as HIV clinical experience in order to interact effectively with all of the relevant personnel of the JHHCC and the CNICS Data Core. S/he will supervise the JHHCC data manager/programmer and the data abstractors who collect these data. S/he will ensure that all data elements are properly formatted and compiled, and that the data are transmitted securely to the Data Core at specified times. S/he will respond to all queries from the Data Core regarding these data, and work in collaboration with the JHHCC staff and the CNICS Data Core staff to address all data-related issues and ensure that the data are accurate and complete. S/he will oversee all QI initiatives regarding the CNICS-JHHCC data.

Oversees the day-to-day operations of both the CNICS Study. Provides data manager functions on a complex, longitudinal study with oversight of the functions of other staff involved in the project. Develops and implements systems for monitoring, reporting, and quality assurance activities. Ensures program quality, research fidelity, and adherence to project goals and timelines. Works with the program analyst to develop reports. Produces reports as needed for the project. Contributes to the advanced analysis of projects related to this study. Participates in development of new applications for grants. Works closely with Co-PI’s to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements for the allocation of federal funding. Directs the data manager of the studies in making database enhancements, queries and reports for project management and analyses. Develops budgets with the PI and Co-PI. Monitors budget expenditures. Makes strategic recommendations/decisions to meet project goals.

Requirements



Qualifications:
Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or other health-related field required. Minimum of 8 years related experience, including significant experience in field conducting large research projects.Experience in managing personnel. Experience in health sciences research, data management and analysis. Experience in grant reporting and research writing. Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated self-management (i.e. motivation, time-management, adaptability). Decision-making skills. Excellent problem-solving skills.Formal training and expertise with data management and analysis software (SAS, MS SQL Server, STATA, MS Access). SAS experience important. Formal training in epidemiologic and biostatistical methods for clinical research. Proficiency in writing technical and programmatic reports as well as manuscripts for peer-reviewed scientific journals. Extensive knowledge of clinical research on manifestations of HIV disease and related illnesses strongly preferred  NOTE: The successful candidate(s) for this position will be subject to a pre-employment background check. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
