Job Description

As a Senior IT Application Analyst at Seattle Genetics, you will have the opportunity to join a team of IT professionals collaborating and supporting the technical needs of our Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Development, Risk Management, Pharmacovigilance, Medical Affairs, as well as our Sales & Marketing departments.  As you partner with these organizations, you will provide technical consultation, project leadership from inception to implementation, IT GxP validation execution, and administration support for assigned systems.  The position requires solid technical understanding as well as verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to clearly communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.


•   Responsible for the implementation and ongoing support of assigned IT systems and applications
•   Ensures that implementations are completed in a timely and quality manner, in accordance with our standards, and focusing on our internal customer's success criteria
•   Alerts all team members of critical path milestones on the project plan for assigned applications
•   Conducts business analysis, requirements definition, systems analysis and application administration tasks
•   Performs project and team administrative activities – scheduling meetings, publishing agendas and meeting minutes, communicating project tasks and timelines
•   Assists in the development of project plans in MS Project and is accountable to ensure work is completed according to the plan
•   Communicates issues, solutions and progress to project and program management
•   Requisitions application servers and assists in application installation
•   Participates in GxP validation/qualification of systems including writing, reviewing and executing validation protocols
•   Represents the needs of our customers to the solution vendor(s)
•   Develops effective working relationships with internal customers and vendors
•   Demonstrates a high level of composure, professionalism, and knowledge of IT solutions, application management through product cycles and business environments
•   Identifies risk and remediation plans in conjunction with business and IT partners
•   Connects with business partners regularly and recommends applications and technology to address needs
•   Negotiates conflicts and complex issues to an expeditious and satisfactory resolution for both our internal customers and vendors
•   Prioritizes activities and quickly adapts to changing situations
•   Advises management on technical and process issues
•   Assists our internal customers in developing use-case scenarios for testing
•   Maintains productive and positive interpersonal relationships within IT



•   10 years’ experience in supporting and implementing large scale IT solutions including software deployment, business analysis, project management, process improvement and computer systems validation
•   Participation in multiple software deployment and software upgrade projects
•   Strong analytical skills with experience in workflow design
•   Demonstrated experience in the integration of internal applications and databases
•   Demonstrated technical understanding of application architecture to include application servers, web servers, configuration files, relational databases, SQL, and reporting applications
•   Strong understanding of ETL practices
•   Has experience in the management of software post activation: support, upgrades, and enhancement rollouts
•   Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a high degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently
•   Monitors and ensures budget targets are met and provides feedback to project management for adjustments needed
•   MS-Office knowledge (Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
•   Experience in implementation process improvement to increase efficiency and reduce costs for system implementation and operation
•   Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business, Computer Science,  Engineering or related discipline, and 6+ years of progressive business experience
•   Demonstrated facilitative leadership skills

Knowledge of the following a plus:

•   Familiarity with GxP and ICH regulations and 21CFR, Part 11
•   Knowledge of Pharmacovigilance systems (Argus preferred)
•   Knowledge of Analytical tools preferred (SAS, Microstrategy, Spotfire, etc.)
•   Experience with Clinical Trial Management tools
•   Familiarity with biotech/pharma business processes and applications
•   Programming skills in Microsoft .NET, C#, SQL Server, MS Access and VBA
•   Experience configuring SharePoint
