This role Senior Director role provides vision, strategic direction and leadership for Gaithersburg Site Operations.  This leader will be a senior member of the MedImmune Biotech Operations team.  This role interfaces and establishes effective relationships with key stakeholders across the enterprise and leads and participates in various cross-organizational governance committees.  The Senior Director develops effective leaders and teams across the Site Operations organization.  The role will also have dotted-line responsibilities for the AZ/MedImmune California site, providing insight on best practices as well as oversight and coaching to California Facilities Management team. 

The Senior Director Gaithersburg Site Operations has responsibility for providing efficient Facility Management & services supporting the Gaithersburg site including offices, R&D laboratories, Clinical Supply Manufacturing, Child Care Center and parking decks. This role has responsibility for investment of the Gaithersburg Site Operations Expense Budget to provide, maintain and operate the company’s valuable facilities assets to ensure full and beneficial operations. The Senior Director has responsibility for investment of the Gaithersburg Site Operations Capital Budget to renew, upgrade and modify site facilities assets in response to changing business requirements and identified process optimization improvements.

The Senior Director has responsibility for leading and assembling the appropriate set of multidisciplinary professionals which integrates support of people, process and technology to ensure the safe, secure and sustainable functionality of the built environment. This includes monitoring, assessing, repairing and upgrading facilities, systems and utilities to ensure the facility and services fully support the occupants and functions housed within them. Additionally, this includes monitoring, assessing and providing specialty support services including Safety, Health and Environment Services (SHE), Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and R&D Laboratory Operations services to ensure site activities are performed in a continuous, safe, sustainable and optimal manner. The Senior Director will maintain awareness of advancing technology, innovations in energy efficiency, sustainable design and business practices which impact employee productivity, business efficiency, and external perceptions of the company. The role will develop, recommend and implement strategic plans and programs to improve efficiency, heighten performance and ensure that the facility meets FDA regulations, and OSHA health and safety requirements. The Senior Director has responsibility for integrating Gaithersburg Site Operations strategic efforts with other MedImmune sites as well as AstraZeneca; and will support the long-term plans for Gaithersburg through participation in the Global Facilities Master Plan development process and Capital Planning activities.

Requirements

Typical Education:

Bachelors:  Engineering or similar field

Typical Experience:

15+ years experience in cGMP/GLP operations
