Amgen is seeking a Specialist IS Business Systems Analyst to join the multi-site Research & Development Informatics organization at its Burnaby, Canada research site.   The IS analyst will report to the Director in Research Informatics, in support of Lead Identification and Optimization service (LIO).
Lead Identification and Optimization service provides IS support to Amgen’s Discovery Research, responsible for discovering Amgen’s therapeutic molecule candidates.  The Research area to be supported covers the screening and discovery of antibody lead molecules. LIO plays a vital role in globally enabling the science through delivery of innovative technologies and IT support.
The Research Informatics team supports Discovery Research and Translational Research organizations to accelerate and grow Amgen’s pipeline of biopharmaceuticals. Our success in informatics is driven by our commitment to the IS Vision –

The analyst’s responsibilities will include:
Provide detailed business analysis of the Biologics Research processes that will serve as authoritative documentation and reference material on which to base tangible systems designs
Work across multiple IS services supporting Research to develop IS solutions required to enable and further progress business capabilities
Serve as the IS single point of contact for the Burnaby site, providing coordination of all IS services for the Burnaby operations
Manage internal and external vendors to ensure optimal delivery of the build and run services
Provide informatics leadership to influence Clients, other Business Analysts, and Technical Team members
Lead select IS/Informatics delivery projects as Project Manager

Requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in related subject (systems, information management, software engineering, etc.)
5+ years’ experience working within Information Systems
Demonstrated track record of designing and delivering innovative IS solutions
3+ years of experience in agile software methodology
Strong written and oral communication skills and technical expertise to be able to communicate effectively with business and technology partners
Experience in an environment requiring self-motivation and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Life Sciences/engineering
3+ years of Information Systems experience
Knowledge of Pharmaceutical Discovery, Biologics Engineering, Medicinal Chemistry and Informatics
5+ years of experience in informatics support in a biopharmaceutical company
Strong Service Delivery mindset with demonstrated ability to deliver complex solutions
Ability to negotiate software requirements within and across business units and translate those requirements to IS solutions
Strong examples of leadership, consulting, collaboration, project management, service delivery and process improvement skills
Demonstrated ability to leverage enterprise and external shared services to deliver solutions
Experience developing internal and external relationships for operating across functional boundaries
Ability to translate strategic opportunities and emerging technology solutions into tangible pragmatic executable plans
