Position Overview:

Amgen is seeking a Specialist IS Business Systems Analyst to join the UK Research & Development Informatics organization. Based in either our UK Uxbridge or UK Cambridge locations, the Specialist IS Business Systems Analyst will report to the Senior Manager, R&D Informatics, UK.

The Business Analyst acts as an intermediary between the business and the technical communities working with IS project teams and business clients to collect, clarify, and translate business requirements into documentation and conceptual design (using appropriate tools and models) from which applications and solutions are developed. The Business Analyst is an active thought partner and application visionary who shapes the technology demand among the business community. The Business Analyst supports the accountable Service Owner during agency inspections or internal audits.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with the Service Owner/s to create and maintain a service to achieve the strategic vision.
  • Partners with business and technology partners to elicit, analyze, translate, and document business requirements into functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Analyzes, documents and tests program development, logic, process flows and specifications.
  • Partners with business partners to conduct user acceptance testing.
  • Develops user manuals to describe application installation and operating procedures.
  • Prepares for and ensures that documentation stands up to audits and inspections; provides further documentation as necessary.
  • Support global, regional and local R&D IS projects, liaising with colleagues locally and globally
  • Act as an IS business partner for the UK R&D business functions, understanding business requirements, input in project prioritization, represent regional needs in the context of global portfolios and act as a point of escalation for support issues.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and proven experience in the Pharma/Biotech industry, especially within the regulatory.
  • Ability to understand business functionality and translate it into application requirements
  • Ability to create compelling business cases with accurate cost and effort estimations
  • Excellent understanding of business complexity and project interdependencies
  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to question thought partners across functional areas
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot problems that may arise in work products
  • Ability to partner with software engineers and quality analysts to identify course of resolutions
  • Strong understanding of basic system engineering, object-oriented design, information risk and security guidelines, and architecture standards
  • In depth understanding of the various software development lifecycles (i.e., Agile, Waterfall, etc.)
  • Expert skills and knowledge of PM principles, methodologies, project financial accounting, risk management, communications and status reporting, and schedule management.
  • Understanding of modeling techniques, such as unified modeling language, etc.

    Requirements

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the following: Project management and Business Analysis work in support of diverse IS projects including: data and document management.
  • Work in global environment, able to impact and influence people, processes and projects.
  • Working knowledge of Agile and practical work experience delivering projects using Agile SCRUM methodology. Knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile, SCRUM, Waterfall, etc.).
  • Experience working with qualified and validated systems, with a good working knowledge of the validation process.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and conflict resolution skills and ability to identify, assess and resolve business problems/issue/risks and facilitate issue resolution and risk mitigation.
