Description

Job Summary:  You will work on large software systems and tools used in analysis and tracking of next generation digital PCR systems developed at the Digital Biology Center at Bio-Rad. The internal software systems and tools provide automated data management, analysis, validation, user access and tracking capabilities. Advanced analysis tools are used for processing and aggregation of large data sets and to advance understanding of engineering and scientific problems and finding appropriate solutions.


Job duties include but are not limited to:

•Design, implement and maintain large software systems for tracking, processing and presenting to users large data sets with ddPCR data
•Design and maintain processing pipelines and databases for large studies of novel assay development approaches
•Interface with product software engineering, hardware, chemistry, bioinformatics and molecular biology scientists to develop needed solutions. Plan and coordinate group efforts in large cross-functional projects
•Interface with internal and external IT functions to provide access to data and systems to internal and external users
•Evaluate, select, advise and plan on technologies, approaches and framework solutions to long-range projects for data management and analysis

Requirements

Education and Experience:

•B.S. or higher degree in Computer Science or similar discipline. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience. 8 years or advanced degree preferred.
•Must have significant prior experience with large web-based data management, analysis and presentation systems, preferably in R&D and science-oriented environments.
•Experience developing and maintaining MVC web-frameworks with rails, Jango or similar. Experience with pylons, preferred.
•Experience with Python and standard packages like Numpy, Scipy, wx/qtPy, matplotlib, etc.
•Experience with other big data problems is helpful.
•Some familiarity with statistics and standard analysis tools is strongly desired. Exposure to computational biology problems and solutions is a strong plus.
•Strong communication skills. Desire to contribute to development of solutions to advance Life Sciences and Human Health.
