As a Senior Technician, Pharmaceutical Technology & Development in West Chester, OH, you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives.  

   As the Senior Technician, you will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Technical Operations lab and pilot plant, which includes setting up & running experiments at the lab, pilot, and commercial scale; maintaining equipment; and documenting activities.  

   Major Responsibilities:  

  •      Working with the Technical Operations Engineers, Manufacturing, and other groups to develop and execute pilot, lab, and commercial-scale development runs; writing, reviewing, and updating SOPs and batch records; equipment assembly and basic    maintenance; and equipment and area cleaning.    
  •      Independently lead and coordinate development studies with little supervision. Includes basic understanding of experimental design.
  •      Execute commissioning protocols for processes and equipment.    
  •      Maintain records and a clean environment.    
  •      Maintain pilot plant equipment and instruments and assist in the maintenance of lab instruments.    
  •      Read, understand, and comply with Standard Operating Procedures.    
  •      Assist with in-process testing and limited final product testing.    
  •      Review completed documentation (batch records, log books, etc.) for accuracy and completeness. Initiate appropriate action when process deviations occur.    
  •      Perform OJT for new and developing technicians. Provide input for technician performance reviews.    
  •      Work with engineers and manufacturing to monitor development and commercial processes, analyze data, and track trends. Includes interface with plant databases and subsequent analysis of results using software (Microsoft Excel, etc.).    
  •      Read/Interpret P&IDs and other related schematics.    
  •      Interface/Communicate with Manufacturing, Facilities, Technical Operations, Quality, etc. as necessary to complete tasks.    
  •      Be proficient in use of formal change management systems (Change Control Process).    


   Essential Requirements:  

  •      HS education or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years experience in a pharmaceutical processing environment or associates degree with minimum 5 years of experience.    
  •      Ability to coach and mentor peers.    

   Desirable Requirements:  

  •      Hands on experience with aseptic processing preferred.    
  •      Basic knowledge of chemistry and scientific methods.    
  •      Ability to operate all types of production equipment and gown appropriately for aseptic operations.    
  •      Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.    

   Required Competencies:  

  •      Ability to lift 40 pounds, stand for long periods of time, work gowned for long periods of time, maintain good personal hygiene. Good verbal and written communication skills in English. Team player committed to quality and working effectively with others. Must be self-motivated, results oriented, dependable, organized, efficient, disciplined, and able to work on multiple tasks with minimal supervision.    
  •      Correctable vision equal to or better than 20/20.    
  •      Ability to accurately interpret sounds and associated meanings at volume levels consistent with interpersonal or group conversations. Ability to interpret the letters and numbers when viewed on a personal computer screen, PDA, reports and other documents.    
  •      Ability to work in office, Lab and Manufacturing environments.
