The successful candidate will work in a collaborative setting within the Protein Sciences Unit leading protein analytic and formulation efforts and will have a strong working knowledge of protein expression and purification. The position will be accountable for the execution, documentation and presentation of a suite of bioanalytical assays to support protein characterization and integration into antibody discovery and cell line development campaigns.  The candidate should have experience in capillary electrophoresis techniques (IEF, SDS, and N-glycan analysis), HPLC techniques, and Mass Spectrometry.  An essential feature for this position is experience in thermostability assessment of proteins by DSC/DSF for formulation and shelf life studies. Significant experience with data analysis, presentation, and technical report writing is required. The candidate must be self-motivated, have a demonstrated ability to multiplex high priority projects and work independently.


•   Build and lead a protein analytics team
•   Performance, documentation, and presentation of protein analytical techniques such as ceSDS, ceIEF, N-glycan analysis, HPLC/UPLC techniques (aSEC, RP, NP and IEX).
•   Performance, documentation, and presentation of mass spectrometry experimentation including accurate mass determination, PTMs and peptide mapping.
•   Performance, documentation, and presentation of protein stability (DSC/DSF), formulation, shelf life and similar studies.
•   Functional analysis of proteins by enzyme assays, binding assays, and other assays as required.
•   Engagement with past, current and prospective clients to understand their protein analytical needs and discussion scientific workplans.
•   Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory notebook records.
•   Be an engaged team member providing input into experiment design in a constructive manner
•   Participate in the maintenance of laboratory equipment, laboratory supplies, and a clean working environment.
•   Participation in department meetings, including internal scientific presentations
•   Other duties as assigned.


•   Education: A Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, or similar field and at least 5 years of post-graduate experience in a professional environment.  A masters degree with significant relevant experience and knowledge will be considered.
•   Intuitive knowledge and technical excellence in protein analytics with a keen interest in using biophysical and functional analysis to confirm protein integrity.
•   Ability to drive strategies and problem solve for formulation and shelf life experimentation for a diverse range of proteins from many different customers.
•   Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well as a member of a team are imperative.
•   Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and data analysis are expected.
