Job Description


Position Summary

We are looking for a Senior Scientist to join the Cell Biology team at AnaptysBio. This individual will be involved in strategic design, implementation, leadership, and execution of antibody-based drug discovery research projects in autoimmunity and inflammation. Responsibilities will also include participating on matrixed project teams and oversight of antibody optimization on one or more of the projects.

•Contribute to antibody discovery, optimization and characterization strategies for therapeutic antibody discovery programs, including the use of AnaptysBio’s affinity maturation platform
•Provide strategic and tactical direction to project teams regarding antibody discovery and optimization
•Contribute to reagent production and validation and the establishment of antibody screening assays to enable the initiation of antibody discovery to new targets
•Serve as a Discovery Project Team Leader, work effectively as a member of multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams to accomplish project goals
•Participate in the effective mentoring, supervision, and professional development of junior laboratory staff
•Present research findings clearly and effectively at internal and external meetings

Requirements


Qualifications

•PhD in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field with a minimum of 6 years’ productive experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry in biologics drug discovery
•Demonstrated success in project leadership, independent and innovative scientific thinking and experimental design/approaches
•Strong working knowledge of cellular and molecular immunology, including autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, with an applied understanding of antibodies and antibody generation
•Practical state-of-the-art knowledge in the design and implementation of flow cytometry-based multi-color analyses, screening and sorting; practical knowledge of mammalian cell culture, including state-of-the-art cell biology techniques
•Strong record of scientific creativity and independence, including a strong scientific publication and external presentation record in accord with years of experience
•Proven personnel management and supervision skills with an ability to multitask, prioritize, and function in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
•Motivated team player, collaborates with colleagues within and outside of Department, intensely committed to success and getting the job done well in a highly dynamic environment
•Effective communication skills, including the ability to independently write study reports and scientific manuscripts for publication, and the ability to make clear oral presentations to project teams and the executive team
•Commitment to high scientific standards and rigorous experimental methods, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
