Role Description

The Pfizer Inflammation &Immunology (I&I) department aims to develop novel therapeutics to treat autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. A successful candidate for this position would function as a key person in projects dedicated to the investigation of critical immune pathways contributing to disease. The innate immunity group has a special focus on the innate immunity pathway that leads to inflammatory response and activation of adaptive immunity. This person will work within a team environment and is accountable for the in-depth understanding of relevant biology, the in vitro validation of select targets and, ultimately, the delivery of novel therapeutics to the I&I portfolio.



Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities include: * Design and perform experimental studies to understand the biology relevant to disease for target validation
* Establish essential in vitro/in vivo models and assays, suitable for the screening and testing of compounds or biologics
* Work within a project team as a key biologist to coordinate and perform biology related work for the development of novel therapeutics
* Identify and evaluate novel therapeutic targets both in collaboration with other colleagues including biologists, geneticists, chemists as well as by actively engaging external collaborators

Requirements

Qualifications

PhD. in Immunology, Molecular/Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or other related biology area with 0-4 year postdoctoral and/or industrial experience. Master degree with 5-10 years post graduate experience and good track of record will be considered. Demonstration of effective written and oral communication skills and proven a proven publication record is also highly desirable Experience in designing and performing immunological studies such as isolation of immune cells, immune effector cell assays and a familiarity with FACS technology is essential. Experience with in vitro assays using macrophages, dendritic cells, T cells, co-culture system as well as human disease-relevant assay is highly desirable.
