Job Description

Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute brings together world renowned clinicians, innovative researchers and dedicated professionals, allies in the common mission of conquering cancer, HIV/AIDS and related diseases. Combining extremely talented people with the best technologies in a genuinely positive environment, we provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all ages; we conduct research that advances treatment; we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers; we reach out to underserved members of our community; and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals.

The Hormoz Lab at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School seeks a highly motivated and dedicated full-time Senior Research Technician. The Hormoz laboratory studies cellular state transitions during development, directed differentiation, and in diseases. The Lab focuses on time-lapse microscopy and characterization of individual cells using emerging single-cell technologies.
Commonly performed tasks will include tissue culture, DNA cloning, DNA editing with CRISPR/Cas9, FACS analysis, RNA extraction, real time PCR, sequencing, and different forms of microscopy. The lab tech is also expected to help with equipment purchases and lab set-up and contribute to lab support activities such as ordering and organization. Accordingly, prior experience in molecular biology, cell biology or mammalian cell culture is necessary; exposure to more than one area will be a significant asset.
The successful applicant will be eligible for authorship on resulting publications, including lead authorship where appropriate, and will acquire vital leadership and management skills. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a cutting-edge laboratory at a world-class institution.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated, dedicated, possess excellent organizational skills, be attentive to detail, and capable of forming effective working relationships with members of the research team. A BA/BS or equivalent in Biology, or a related field is required.
This position requires at least 2 years of post undergrad research experience. Experience working with mammalian cell culture and the corresponding molecular biology, genomics, and cloning techniques is highly desirable.
We are looking for candidates who have at least two years of availability.
