Description

Perseid Therapeutics, a subsidiary of Astellas located in Redwood City, CA, is committed to the discovery and development of novel and next-generation biologics for serious unmet needs in autoimmunity settings through our core platform technology of MolecularBreedingTM. We are looking for an individual, with experience appropriate to the Senior Research Associate/Research Associate III level, to fill a position immediately within the in vivo pharmacology team.  The ideal candidate will have a strong in vivo and in vitro skill set, the ability to interpret complex data sets and formulate next experimental steps, and be able to work well as part of a team.

Responsibilities:
The individual will design and execute in vivo efficacy, activity, and PK studies with minimal oversight.  Additionally, they will participate in the handling, dosing, and sampling of laboratory mice for studies run by others in the team.  The individual will be responsible for developing, troubleshooting, and executing a variety of ex vivo assays (may include PK assays, ELISA, flow cytometry, Luminex, ELISPOT, Taqman).  They will also analyze, interpret, and present the data they have generated, as well as help define next experimental steps.  Some weekend work is required (ie animal health checks, occasional dosing).

Requirements

Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a biological science with at least 8 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience OR Ph.D. with 0 – 3 years of relevant experience.
Experience in an industrial setting is highly desirable.  
The individual we are seeking:
-Must be able to independently define work plan from assigned goals and effectively execute complex in vivo and in vitro experiments with minimal oversight.
-Must have solid experience handling, sampling, and dosing mice.  
-Must have broad experience performing ex vivo assays, as listed above.
-Must be competent analyzing, interpreting and presenting data generated (via Excel/Prism).
-Must possess solid organizational skills and attention to detail.  
-Must demonstrate an interest and/or basic scientific understanding in the principles of immunology (or related field)  and immunological techniques.  The ability to understand how day-to-day tasks answer broader scientific questions is highly desirable.
