Job Description

ORIC Pharmaceuticals is a privately-held company dedicated to discovering and developing novel therapies for treatment-resistant cancers.  While recent advances with targeted therapeutics have extended prognoses in many disease settings, cancers often develop resistance to current drugs and relapsed patients lack further treatment options.  The company has assembled a world-class scientific team dedicated to the discovery of therapies that can meaningfully improve clinical outcomes for these patients.  ORIC was founded by two world-class experts in oncology who have strong records of discovering innovative treatments and targets in cancer, and the scientific team is executing multiple drug discovery strategies targeting the mechanisms that allow tumors to become resistant to current therapies.  The company is supported by investors with extensive experience in both drug development and the financing of life science companies and is located in South San Francisco, CA.

We are looking for a motivated and experienced researcher to join our in vivo pharmacology group.  The individual will execute in vivo efficacy and PK/PD studies in support of ORIC’s drug development programs.  Reports to the In vivo Pharmacology group leader and collaborates extensively with DMPK and Biology teams.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
•   Hands-on proficiency in handling rodents and administrating drug therapeutics via various routes (e.g. IV, IP, PO, SQ)
•   Hands-on proficiency in tumor implantation and measuring (e.g. caliper measurements and bio-luminescence imaging)
•   Collection of blood (tail nick, retro-orbital and cardiac puncture), tissue samples and organ harvests for analysis
•   Preparation of basic formulations and dosing solutions is desired
•   Collects and records clinical measurements and observations. Candidate will be responsible for entering data from multiple studies in a timely manner
•   Proficiency in in vitro cell culture, scale-up for implantation, cell banking and maintenance of frozen stocks
•   Analysis of experimental data using MS Office, PRISM or comparable software
•   Familiar with development and characterization of mouse models of cancer
•   Detail oriented


•   BS or MS in Biology, Pharmacology or related discipline
•   3+ years of experience in conducting in vivo pharmacology studies using mouse models of cancer
•   Position requires the ability to work a non-standard Tuesday – Saturday weekly schedule
•   Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
