JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful Research Associate will work as a member of the Assembly Biosciences biology team at our San Francisco site, and support our antiviral drug discovery programs in a multi-disciplinary fast-paced team environment. Responsibilities will include:  
-   Independently plan and perform experiments and generate data in a virology laboratory setting
-   Perform cell based assays, biochemistry, and/or molecular biology experiments
-   Assist in experiment design/troubleshooting, data analysis, drafting of protocols and support of laboratory operations
-   Support routine research efforts that contribute to meeting project goals
-   Effectively communicate scientific data regularly and actively participate in group meetings

Requirements


Education & Experience
-   B.Sc./Masters or equivalent degree in a biology-related scientific discipline
-   Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of experience in industrial or academic settings
-   Experience in basic research techniques and safe laboratory practices and BSL standards

Qualifications
-   Preference for candidates with prior biotechnology/industry working experience
-   Demonstrated track record of productivity and knowledge working with cell culture, standard molecular biology techniques (including mammalian vector design, ELISA assays, reporter assays, qPCR and (RT)qPCR and/or biochemical assays/protein purification
-   Desire and demonstrated ability to quickly develop new technical skills, ability to think independently, be results oriented and have strong attention to detail
-   Experience with Microsoft Office programs and DNA plasmid design software, GraphPad Prism
-   Ability to communicate effectively and present basic concepts and detailed scientific data to diverse teams through good verbal and written communication skills
