Job Description

Maverick Therapeutics is pioneering the next wave of redirected T cell therapeutics in immuno-oncology. Our highly innovative platform will deliver superior therapeutics with potent activity, increased tumor specificity, and reduced toxicity for cancer patients.

We are seeking a motivated tumor biologist to discover and develop novel therapeutics that mobilize the immune system against cancer while protecting healthy tissue. This role will work directly with project leaders and will be responsible for critical-path studies from early discovery to IND submission.  We are looking for exceptional candidates to join our multidisciplinary team in an exciting and dynamic R&D environment to propel research programs utilizing our novel immunotherapeutic platform toward early stage clinical investigation in a fast-paced and highly innovative company.

Responsibilities:
1.   Participate in therapeutic T cell retargeting programs from target validation through to candidate selection, and into Phase 1 clinical trials.

2.   Characterize therapeutic candidates in vitro as part of the lead selection process, including target tumor antigen expression, T cell immunophenotyping, T cell dependent cytotoxicity and cytokine release assays.

3.   Participate in analysis of in vivo studies to help establish PK / PD / efficacy relationships.

4.   Support target validation and biomarker discovery.

5.   SRA candidates are expected to identify and import state-of-the-art experimental protocols, including T-cell retargeting and other relevant IO assays.

6.   Communicate scientific progress to team; SRA candidates additionally may be responsible for communication of findings and plans to senior management.

7.   SRA candidates will contribute to strategic discussion and goal-setting with research leadership.

8.   Contribute to the writing of research reports to be included in regulatory filings.

9.   Maintain laboratory notebooks and follow laboratory practices in compliance with Maverick Therapeutics policies.

Requirements

1.   B.S./M.S. in cell biology, immunology, pharmacology, or related field with 8+ years of relevant working experience.

2.   The ideal candidate will have biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience with a focus in immunology, immuno-oncology or oncology; industry experience critical for SRA candidate.

3.   History of success as a member of cross-functional drug discovery teams is required.

4.   Experience culturing and maintaining human tumor cell lines and primary human cells, preferably T cells, is critical.

5.   Proficiency with basic immunology techniques such as ELISA and flow cytometry required.

6.   Demonstrated experience executing therapeutic candidate lead selection studies.

7.   Deep understanding of T cell cytotoxicity and functional assays.

8.   Experience in molecular biology and biochemical techniques such as western blot, molecular cloning, qPCR a plus.

9.   Experience with immunohistochemistry and fluorescence microscopy is desired.

10.   Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
