Role Description

Research Scientist to provide assay and shRNA/CRISPR reagent generation support for Oncology Target Discovery (OTD) group projects. This will include providing: 1) Cell culture and molecular biology cloning support for shRNA/CRISPR gene target construction and validation 2) Developing and running screens using libraries of small molecule inhibitors, shRNA or CRISPR gene targets reagents 3) Performing weekly analysis and providing data results for screens and assays



Responsibilities

* Provide cell culture and molecular biology support for shRNA and/or CRISPR reagent generation
* Perform lentiviral cell transduction support for both immune and tumor cells for screens
* Use Biomek and Janus liquid handling platforms for developing high throughput assays and screens
* Provide weekly updates and analysis of screen and assay data
* Manage assay reagents, compound ordering, and inventory tracking
* Support development of new technologies and innovative approaches that aid in increased throughput or improvement in reagent quality, assay performance, or sensitivity

Requirements

Qualifications

Education and Experience: * Master's degree preferred with 5+ years' experience, or Bachelor's degree with 6+ years' experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry
* Prior work experience in industry is not required, but would be beneficial. Attributes: * Highly motivated and independent scientist who drives results to deliver on specific goals
* Strong analytical thinker who strives to improve, innovate, and become a scientific leader Technical Skill Requirements: * Strong demonstrated experience and knowledge in molecular biology techniques including but not limited to cloning, PCR, plasmid purification and quantification
* Experience in cell culture, lentviral packaging, tittering and infection for shRNA or CRISPR vectors
* Experience running either small molecule, shRNA, or CRISPR arrayed assays or screens
* Experience using High Content imaging (Arrayscan or Opera) or FACS platforms desired
* Expertise using semi-automated Biomek, Janus, Tecan or similar liquid handling platforms desired
* Experience in performing MiSeq or other NGS analysis would be beneficial but not required
* Experience in performing shRNA or CRISPR pooled screens would be beneficial but not required PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Basic physical requirement needed; no heavy lifting involved. Strong mathematical skills required with demonstrated experience working with databases such as LIMS, Freezer Pro, or other similar platforms.
