Job Description

We are seeking an accomplished researcher to develop, execute, and interpret in vitro and/or ex vivo immune cell functional and signaling assays using primary human, monkey, and/or mouse cells and cell lines to support both discovery and development projects.  These assays may include in vitro and/or ex vivo cellular functional and signaling assays, as well as characterization of antibody pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.  May also be responsible for identification and validation of biomarker assays to support preclinical and clinical programs.   Specific responsibilities include:
•   Design and accurately execute in vitro mechanism of action studies, analyze and interpret experimental results contributing to program strategies
•   Perform cellular functional and signaling assays using primary mouse, monkey or human cells and cell lines to evaluate cellular activity of candidate antibodies against specific targets
•   Develop, optimize, perform, and troubleshoot qPCR, ELISA and flow cytometry assays in support of antibody programs
•   Execute on biomarker strategies for one or more projects, in collaboration with Discovery and Clinical development team members
•   Actively search literature to identify alternative methodologies and solve scientific problems
•   Organize, summarize and present data to supervisor, project leader, and at project and department meetings
•   Interact as needed to coordinate hand-off of materials between departments
•   Develop an expanding technical and theoretical knowledge base in project-related biology reflecting a growing understanding of the scientific literature
•   Prepare technical reports, summaries, and detailed protocols
•   May be responsible for identifying patentable inventions
•   Assist junior colleagues in troubleshooting and multi-tasking while maintaining quality of experimental results.

Requirements

•   Bachelors’ degree in a biology-related discipline and 8+ years of related laboratory experience or Masters’ in a biology-related discipline with 7+ years of related laboratory research experience; all including extensive experience working with therapeutic antibodies
•   Strong understanding of and background in cellular immunology
•   Able to apply literature to problem solving
•   In-depth technical and theoretical knowledge, and practical experience in, principles and practices of cell biology methodologies and cellular immunology, including mammalian cell culture, cell transfection, functional/in-vitro cellular immunology assays and cellular assay development
•   Expertise in developing and executing cellular signaling assays including qPCR, ELISA, luminescence, and flow cytometry-based readouts
•   Expertise in primary mouse, monkey, or human lymphocyte and mononuclear cell purification and functional assays
•   Ability to work on complex problems by exercising judgment in selecting experimental methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results and performing data analysis that requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors
•   Ability to maintain productivity and quality results for routine, established assays, while working on multiple projects, tasks
•   Ability to communicate clearly, and to report and present experimental results and analysis to supervisor, department colleagues, and at project team meetings
