Description

We are seeking an outstanding Senior Research Associate in the Antibody and Protein Engineering group within the Antibody Technologies department. The individual will contribute to antibody discovery through supporting the design and execution of antibody phage display and characterizing selected antibodies against disease-specific targets.  Additional responsibilities include actively participating in technology improvement and processes optimization to facilitate and expedite lead selection.  The candidate will have expertise in molecular biology and protein chemistry and have excellent organizational and communication skills and ability to effectively work in a cross-functional department.  Experience in protein engineering, including in vitro evolution platforms such as phage display or other display systems, is strongly desired.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:  

•   Execute phage library panning and screening strategies that enable
    the selection and characterization of phage-derived antibodies
    that meet design criteria.
•   De novo construction of large antibody libraries.
•   Cloning, sequencing, and DNA sequence analysis of antibodies and
    protein constructs.
•   Perform small-scale production, purification, and biochemical
    characterization of antibody fragments
•   Troubleshoot complex problems in creative and effective ways;
    whenever needed, actively participate in innovation and/or
    optimization of established processes to ensure drug design goals
    and work plan timelines are met.
•   Make detailed observations, compile and summarize complex and
    large data set, prepare reports, and present conclusions at group,
    departmental, and project team meetings.
•   Document procedures and data in laboratory notebooks regularly,
    detailing experimental purpose/design/results.
•   Work independently with moderate supervision.

Requirements

•   B.S. with 5+ years relevant experience or M.S. with 3+ years
    relevant experience in protein engineering and/or protein
    biochemistry.
•   Expertise in general molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning,
    sequence analysis, western blot, etc.) is required.
•   Experience with screening and assay development by flow cytometry
    and/or ELISA.
•   Experience with phage display or other in vitro evolution platform
    is strongly desired.
•   Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
