Job Description

Description
BioMarin is the world leader in delivering therapeutics that provide meaningful advances to patients who live with serious and life-threatening rare genetic diseases. We target diseases that lack effective therapies and affect relatively small numbers of patients, many of whom are children. These conditions are often inherited, difficult to diagnose, progressively debilitating and have few, if any, treatment options. BioMarin will continue to focus on advancing therapies that are the first or best of their kind.

BioMarin's Development Sciences group is responsible for everything from research and discovery to post-market clinical development. Development Sciences involves all bench and clinical research and the associated groups that support those endeavors. Our teams work on developing first-in-class and best-in-class therapeutics that provide meaningful advances to patients who live with rare diseases. Come join our team and make a meaningful impact on patients' lives.
         Summary:
BioAnalytical Sciences develops analytical methods for detection of drug, antibodies to protein therapeutics, and biomarkers in biological matrices from non-human and human subjects to support projects through multiple stages of development. The Senior Research Associate (SRA) independently plans, performs and manages activities required for assay development while exercising significant technical discretion. Specifically, this position will be a critical service to assay developers and testers by building and continuously supplying customized protein reagents.  The individual will manage the development and quality of Critical Reagents by standardizing methods and techniques for critical reagent generation to ensure reproducible testing results, implementing a reagent characterization regimen and lifecycle management system, and improving reagent documentation to facilitate data retrieval to expedite decisions.  The SRA may present results to project teams through presentations, internal reports, or outside publications.
        Responsibilities:
Produce consistently prepared and well characterized reagents to reduce the risk of assay failure and ensure methods meet regulatory requirements.

Responsible for the development and quality of Critical Reagents including managing external antibody immunization campaigns, building isotype-specific antibody reagents, purifying proteins, conducting protein conjugations (e.g. biotinylation, ruthenylation using standard chemistry), assessing their purity and affinity, and generating Certificates of Analysis.

Monitors and or trend lot-to-lot variability, and may assist with reagent troubleshooting

May function as the primary Bioanalytical R&D interface to other departments regarding a designated project.

Develop new techniques , or bring in new technology from the outside, to enhance the analytical capabilities of the group.

Prepare SOPs, reports and documents such as characterization protocols, development reports, and testing data reports.

Independently carry out the aforementioned tasks and plan, implement, and complete significant projects with minimal supervision.

Share responsibility for lab management duties.
           Scope:
Responsible for efficient and effective laboratory operations, the Senior Research Associate has a significant impact on the company's ability to reach project goals in a timely manner with respect to delivery of data to support preclinical and clinical studies critical to advancing programs through the development process.
