Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking an experienced Senior Research Associate to contribute to drug discovery in the areas of high-throughput cell culture production.

Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will work in a team setting on the development, validation, and execution of human stem cell production for drug discovery. The candidate will be responsible for the utilization of automated systems to enable effective production of human stem cells and its derivatives to support discovery projects. The candidate will also be responsible for applying cell biology measures to develop necessary know-how and establish new and reliable cell culture production protocols. The successful candidate will apply technical proficiency in experimental design and data generation skills to provide conclusions and recommendations on next steps. The position requires a high degree of reliability, independence, attention to detail, data analysis and interpretation skills, as well as strong communication skills.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
- BS or MS in Biology, Neuroscience, Cell Biology or a related science
- Must have 4+ years of experience with standard sterile tissue culture and cell biology techniques required for the routine handling and maintenance of primary human cells and stem cells
- Experience in scaling of primary or human stem cells
- Demonstrated strong understanding of cell-based assay development, validation, and miniaturization as well as best practices to ensure reliability, efficiency, and quality control of large scale assays

Qualifications:
- Experience with liquid handling equipment and general plate handling automation
- Experience with iPSC derived neuronal cell culture
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
