We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Research Associate with expertise in molecular biology, protein sciences and affinity selection methodologies to join Nurix’s Library Discovery team. Nurix is devoted to unlocking the therapeutic potential of the ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS) in the areas of oncology and immuno-oncology, by utilizing mechanistic and structural insights to guide drug discovery efforts. The successful candidate will have a strong background in at least three of the following technical areas: molecular biology, DNA sequencing, protein expression and purification, biochemical assays, and affinity selection. The candidate will be expected to play a key role in utilizing DNA encoded libraries to identify novel, physiologically relevant chemical matter in accord with Nurix’s biophysical and structural expertise in the UPS space. This person will be responsible for validating reagents and protocols and implementing selection strategies to enable library interrogation. This individual will be a member of a small team, working closely with several experienced groups of interdisciplinary scientists all of whom have regular opportunities present findings to the project team and senior management. The candidate should have a strong desire to learn new techniques and the ability to incorporate new methodologies into their work. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, resourceful, very organized and focused, and enjoy working in a dynamic team environment.
• Masters in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, or related field with 6+ years post-degree industry experience.
• Familiarity with a range of biochemical assay methodologies.
• Hands on experience with protein expression and purification using bacterial, baculovirus or mammalian expression systems.
• Working knowledge of a range of molecular biology techniques including PCR, qPCR, ligation, cloning, agarose and PAGE gel electrophoresis of ssDNA and dsDNA. Hands on experience with capillary and NGS sequencing platforms a plus.
• Familiarity with methodologies for library affinity selection preferred.
