Job Description

Senior Research Associate needed East Bay


The successful candidate for the Senior Research Associate position will become an integral member of the research and development team, with responsibility to support multiple molecular and cellular biology aspects of cell-based assay development.

Essential Functions

Design, generate and QC mammalian expression constructs using proprietary expression systems.
Perform transient transfections and retroviral transduction of diverse human cell lines for new assay development.
Perform large-scale production, purification and QC of retrovirus or lentivirus for product portfolio.
Perform testing of assay-ready cells from multiple technology platforms and record results in company database.
Perform proof-of-concept experiments to validate application of new molecular technologies
Prepare and present experimental data at group laboratory meetings and to company management team.
Prepare data and protocols for use in product user manuals to support new applications.
Work diligently to meet product development goals set by management team.


Required Education/Experience/Competencies

B.S. or M.S. in cell biology, biochemistry or related discipline, with a minimum of 3 years of industrial experience.
Previous experience with mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays required.
Highly motivated individual with excellent problem solving and multi-tasking skills.
Must be team-oriented with a demonstrated track record working in a collaborative environment.

Experience with retroviral or lentiviral expression systems highly desirable.
Previous molecular biology experience, including expertise in cloning, PCR, transfections, and Westerns strongly preferred.
Experience working in a commercially-focused lab environment is a plus.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This position operates in a BSL1/2 laboratory setting. There is potential for exposure to human tissues and fluids.
