Job Summary:  You will work on development and deployment of analytical tools for new applications enabled by the microdroplet generation technology developed by Bio-Rad. You will be responsible for the deployment and use of bioinformatics analysis pipelines for primer and probe design, next-gen sequencing , analysis and interpretation of droplet digital PCR experiments. This is an opportunity to help develop and commercialize a new technology that brings closer the promise of digital life sciences. The Digital Biology Center within BioRad has been set with the goal of developing and commercializing digital biology technologies for both research and diagnostics.


Job duties include but are not limited to:

•Work in a cross-functional group of computational biologists and data analysts, software and hardware engineers, chemists and molecular biologists, developing state-of-the-art genome analysis systems.
•Research, deploy and maintain high-throughput assay design pipelines for next generation digital PCR technologies for both research and diagnostics applications. Deploy and maintain standard computational biology databases and tools.
•Analyze data from ddPCR instruments to evaluate assay designs and system performance. Analyze NGS datasets.
•Provide methods, prototypes and code for implementation in internal tools and end-user applications.
•Participate in cross-site projects and academic collaborations.

Requirements

•Ph.D. in Bioinformatics or similar. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
•Experience with primer and probe design, standard qPCR and NGS technologies.
•Demonstrated ability to develop novel bioinformatics tools and use standard resources like UCSC, NCBI, Ensemble, HapMap, 1000 Genomes, Cosmic, etc.
•Experience with development tools and their packages – R, python, scripting, pearl, C/C++, Java, MySQL, etc.
•Experience with efficient implementation of large system software is desirable. HPC experience is also desirable.
•Experience analyzing large NGS datasets, including re-sequencing, variant calling, RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, or similar. Experience with other genomics data and applications is a significant plus.
•Superior communication skills in highly diverse cross-discipline environment.
