   Main Duties and Responsibilities  

   The Senior Manager, Manufacturing Excellence provides technical leadership, mentoring, and project support as required to help support AstraZeneca’s Lean Six Sigma initiatives. You will facilitate the definition of projects, gathering data, analyzing and developing improvements and innovations, and preparing presentations to communicate project status or chartering and execute performance improvement activities.  Assist with the development of Lean management, people development processes and a common lean six sigma language across the site.  Manage processes and support key projects to realize intended business benefit.  Utilize various lean and six sigma tools and techniques to analyse and improve business processes.  Communicate and enroll people in transformational strategic change and provide teaching and coaching to develop leaders and effectively transfer lean six sigma skills into the organization. The focus is to drive higher performance (Top Quartile Lean) across the site and network through process improvement.  

   In addition, you will provide technical leadership (Lean Manufacturing, Change Management) mentoring, and project support as required to help support AstraZeneca’s Lean Six Sigma initiatives. Cultivate an action-biased culture of continuous improvement to improve KPIs, in the areas of Safety, Quality, Supply, People and Cost.  Lead strategic initiatives.  Define and apply appropriate performance management systems to processes to drive results.  Drive and apply scientific problem solving, standardized work, and other Lean tools to solve process and system (full value stream) problems.
Apply Lean techniques and “way of thinking” to processes to solve moderately complex system (multiple processes) problems (building quality in, continuous flow, kanban, heijunka, pull).  Help identify and achieve significant process/quality improvements through the OE initiatives.  

   Expectations include a hands-on teamwork approach to problems, planning, and people associated with all aspects of the initiatives.  Work with the Management Team in the development and execution of OE projects.  Facilitate cross functional improvement teams and coach business process owners in the appropriate application of Manufacturing excellence tools and methods.  Serve as master Manufacturing Excellence trainer, develop trainings and conduct training activities at all level and issue appropriate training completion/belt certificates.  Evaluate OE program ongoing basis and continuously improves it.  Participate BPOG, related OE conferences, summits, and benchmarking; and bring back and champion the best practices at AstraZeneca.  Communicate and display Manufacturing excellence success stories.  Deign and deploy lean process design.  Coach and guide supply chain organization in pursuit of Just-In-Time production.  Apply behavior coaching techniques to influence decision making and to guide continuous improvement activities  


   Essential Requirements    
  •      Seven to ten years of experience in Lean transformations, programs and projects in manufacturing.    
  •      Bachelor’s degree in a related field.    
  •      Demonstrated experience in lean process design and transforming manufacturing from push systems to pull systems in pursue of Just-In-Time production.    
  •      Extensive experience in analyzing end-to-end value chains and driving process improvement.    
  •      Demonstrated proficiency in IT applications to organize and analyze data (MS-Access, MS-Excel, Minitab, MS-Projects).    
  •      Working knowledge of statistical process control concepts, data analysis, diagnostic tools and techniques.    
  •      In-depth working knowledge of Lean Tools and process/system analysis.    
  •      Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects.    
  •      Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.    
  •      Effective internal consulting skills with all levels of management.    
  •      Able to deliver feedback that is clear, articulate and non-threatening.    
  •      Exceptionally good listening skills, recognizes and manages resistance.    
  •      Results oriented-will take action when needed.    
  •      Manage Change & Influence Others.    
   Desirable Requirements    
  •      Bio/pharmaceutical industry experience.    
  •      Deep understanding and application of TPS.    
  •      Deep understanding and successful application towards Shingo Operational Excellence Award.    
  •      Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certified from a recognized program.    
  •      APICS certification as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).    
  •      Experience with the SCOR model and application.
