SUMMARY:
As a member of the Architecture & Software Engineering team in Information Technology you will be accountable for delivery of mission-critical corporate solutions supporting Exelixis' dynamic, collaborative environment:
• Enterprise reporting portal and related decision support systems enabling the corporate commercial, financial, and clinical development organizations
• Workflow solutions facilitating business processes
• Highly adaptable to rapidly changing priorities, and able to drive a project forward in the absence of detailed or finalized requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Senior Informatics Engineer your core responsibilities will vary but will certainly include:
• Planning and implementing secure, reliable and innovative technological solutions supporting corporate commercial, business, and clinical trial development systems and integration where appropriate with existing applications and systems.
• Evaluating vendor technologies, supporting build/buy analysis, and the development and piloting of emerging technologies as appropriate.
• Functioning in a supervisory, team-lead, cross functional, and/or hands-on technical role(s) at the various stages of a software development project lifecycle; from requirements gathering to deployment and support.
• Design, develop and maintain intranet web portal environments, integration of existing intranet web applications and content; creation and integration of n-tiered WEB database applications in support of the varied projects IT is responsible for.
• Utilizing work experience in a fast paced, highly dynamic corporate business and scientific environment.
• Employing best practices regarding technical documentation, component design specifications, framework and design patterns, and actual software development

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:  
Education:
• BS in Chemistry, Biology, or Computer Science and 8-10 years of related industrial experience in a multi-platform area.
• MS in Chemistry, Biology, or Computer Science and 5+ years of related industrial experience in a multi-platform area.

Experience:
• Typically requires a minimum of eight years of related experience and/or combination of experience and education/training.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Core development expertise in Java, J2EE, JBoss, and Oracle is required.
• Must have experience in utilizing a variety of toolsets such as Eclipse, Toad, and Pipeline Pilot
• Development experience is required in n-tiered Web application environments using such technologies as GWT, Struts, Stripes, Faces, or Spring; JavaScript and JavaScript libraries (Ajax/dojo); JSP and HTML/XML technologies.
• Development experience leveraging commercial reporting tools such as IBM’s Cognos, MS BI, SAP Crystal, and/or open source tools is required.
• Experience in general business application configuration, customization, integration, and de novo development in systems such as ADP Perspective, SAP BI (Reporting), Livelink (Oscript) is highly desirable.
• Development experience with Microsoft's tool set (C#, .Net, SharePoint, IIS, SQL*Server), especially in an existing hybrid web environment of Linux/Apache/Tomcat/JBoss is highly desirable.
