We are a venture financed privately-held biotechnology company focused on developing protein therapeutics in unmet medical areas.  We are developing a clinical-stage protein for orphan indication.

Job Description
This is a highly visible and high-impact role that directly reports to the CEO.  This individual will be responsible for executing and managing the full research and development activities of a clinical-stage product to meet corporate goals. The role will include working with a senior team of cross-functional VPs (e.g. non-clinical tox/PK/DM, CMC, bioanalytical, clinical, clinical operations, regulatory) to develop product management strategies and implement research and development activities, including completion of toxicology studies, clinical drug supply (including QA/QC), and clinical activities, and regulatory interactions and filings.

Key contact point for interactions with non-clinical, CMC, Business Development, Operations, Clinical and Regulatory to ensure cohesive operation and communicate in the product development team, as well as to ensure that appropriate processes are in place to consistently manage and track the program.  

Candidates must have biologics (preferably antibodies) experience.  Candidates must have strong scientific or technical skills (but not looking for candidates with primarily discovery or research background).

Responsibilities
- Sets development goals under the guidance of the CEO and CMO.
- Allocates and manages the resources to achieve the goal.
- Assists functional VPs in selecting vendors and negotiating favorable contracts.
- Provides strong and timely technical leadership.
- Creates an environment that motivates the staff and induces creativity.
-   Fosters communication between outside consultants and internal product team.
- Monitors the various departmental budgets.
- Develops improvements to in-house platform technology to product development.
- - Assists in solving technical problems with technical staff and consulting groups.
- - Provides project management leadership for the product development team.

Requirements

This position requires a Ph.D. or M.D. with at least 1-5 years of product development and/or project management experience in therapeutic drug development. Demonstrated success in moving drugs through the development process is essential. Good communication and leadership skills are essential.

Individual must be able to lead the entire product development process both inside and outside of the company to assist in prioritizing all related activities to insure that project objectives are successfully met in a timely manner. Must have the ability to understand technical/scientific details to communicate with functional experts and be capable of making decisions affecting a multitude of departments/disciplines to insure that the company’s business objectives are met with respect to new product development.

Additional skills
- Strong technical background in one or more of the following: toxicology, pharmacology, protein manufacturing (including QA/QC), clinical development, commercial planning, regulatory.
- Proficient presenter with the ability to make Power point presentations
- Ability to use Excel and other financial instruments to set and manage budgets and spending
- Organized and well-versed in project management tools
