Brief Job Description

Sr. Chemist

Participates in investigations for PET process areas, related to QC processes or data.

Trains QC employees.

Troubleshoots methods and processes.

Lead Chemist

May serve as the primary link between QC team and QA Facilitator, for day-to-day activities, such as schedules and workload planning. Coordinates workflow in QC team. Verifies QC data, while monitoring for trends and abnormalities. Performs project work, and leads laboratory investigations. Develops methods and processes.

Job Responsibilities

Sr. Chemist

Performs project work and participates in investigations.

Trains QC employees in GMP, SHE, QC methods, and processes.

Troubleshoots methods and processes.

Serves as an expert in a specific area of laboratory equipment, process, or system.

Lead Chemist

Performs project work, and participates in investigations.

Trains QC employees in GMP, SHE, QC methods and processes.

Troubleshoots methods and processes.

Serves as an expert in a specific area of laboratory equipment, process, or system.

Serves as administrator/SME for certain global systems as appropriate.

Enter and review data in Elab, CDS, GLIMS, Procal and other analytical equipment as appropriate.

Verifies and approves QC data, while monitoring for trends and abnormalities. Reports, and acts on data results.

Serves as QC lead for investigations involving PET process areas, related to QC processes or data, such as sampling,

deviations potentially affecting QC results, investigational sampling and testing.

Leads project work and investigations.

Develops and validates new methods and processes.

Serves as primary contact for contract services, including laboratory testing.

Serves as the technical leader in the laboratory.

The Lead Chemist should serve as the main contact for issues as they arise, and aid/direct troubleshooting

activities when appropriate.

Serve as SME for certain analytical techniques/instrumentation/equipment/procedures.

Aid the metrology program in the development of metrology procedures, and by performing general

maintenance/preventative maintenance/calibration activities when appropriate.

Serves as administrator/SME for certain global systems as appropriate.

Main point of contact for finished product testing

Main point of contact for raw material program

Including the testing of raw materials

Review and release of raw materials in SAP

Identification and release of API

Expected to serve on global teams/forums as appropriate

Requirements

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential:

Sr. Chemist

  • Bachelor degree in a Science subject (Chemistry, or
  • closely related subjects). Actual degree requirements will
  • be set at time of hiring, depending on current business
  • needs.
  • At least 3 years laboratory experience.

Desirable:

Sr. Chemist

  • 5 years QC chemistry laboratory experience
  • High level of knowledge and competence with a
  • specific piece of laboratory equipment, or a QC/QA
  • process or system.

Essential:

Lead Chemist

  • Bachelor degree in a Science subject (Chemistry, or
  • closely related subjects). Actual degree
  • requirements will be set at time of hiring, depending
  • on current business needs.
  • At least 5 years laboratory experience.

Desirable:

Lead Chemist

  • 7 years QC chemistry laboratory experience
  • Project management experience
  • Higher level degree
