Summary

As a member ARIAD’s Enterprise Applications team, the Senior R&D Business Analyst provides business analysis, project management, software validation, and hands-on systems support for multiple technologies within the R&D application portfolio. The position will provide technical and scientific partnership with scientists in discovery chemistry and biology research. The person looking to fill this position should be excited by the process of identifying and implementing solutions that allow the science and technology to partner and improve the drug discovery process. This position requires constant collaborative interactions with co-workers across functional groups and departments. Strong interpersonal skills, outstanding verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Understand, identify, assess, and document business requirements, recommending business priorities and advising business on options, risks and costs versus benefits of various solutions.
- Works with scientists to assist in business process redesign as needed for realization of business benefits.
- Provide input to the development of formal business cases.
- Translate business requirements into functional and non-functional specifications. Actively manage and communicate changes to specifications
- Collaborate with scientists to support existing applications and methods, and assess and identify new opportunities for data management and utilization to further drug discovery and development efforts.
- Administer enterprise applications supporting these objectives, ensuring they are running efficiently and effectively.
- Provide seamless customer service, such as user training and helpdesk support, to scientific clients.
- Interact with scientist on a daily basis.
- Assist in preparing SOP's and user guides.

Requirements



- Education: MS in Chemistry or Biology related field with 3 years related experience or BS Chemistry or Biology related field and an MS in Computer Science with 5 years related experience, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability in establishing strong relationships with business stakeholders to understand the strategic direction and priorities for the business domain.
- Knowledge of drug discovery process; data reduction and management and data flows.
- Proven strong business requirement development and analysis/workflow mapping skills
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
- Enjoy learning about the science and working with scientists
- Good documentation and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive and a team player.
- Project management fundamentals
- Application experience preferred: ELN, LIMS, Chemistry Database, Accelrys ( Accord, Pipeline Pilot),Schrodinger, lab automation, Chemical Inventory.
- Preferred programming/scripting skills: SQL, Python, Unix/shell scripting, .Net, JQuery, CSS, AJAX, JavaScript, Java, HTML5

Functional understating of Linux and relational databases (Oracle, MySQL and MSSQL server). Experience with High-Performance Clustering and batch-queuing systems is a plus
