   Main Duties and Responsibilities  

 

   The Senior Automation Engineer positon will support the Biopharmaceutical Development side of the R&D organization and will focus on the design and construction of data mining capabilities that will drive efficiency, inform decisions and enable discovery. The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing best practices for information systems in BPD with sustainability, scalability and integrate-ability as key design features for any newly built or implemented system. Additionally, this candidate will lead the effort to establish world-class data mining and business intelligence capabilities in the Biopharmaceutical Development organization.  

   The BPD Informatics group is responsible for the development of systems, databases and applications that support the operation and knowledge management of the BPD organization, qualified candidates will have a working knowledge of relational database design, Windows and Web application development and some knowledge of NoSQL and graph databases. Expertise in SQL is a plus.  

Requirements

   Essential Requirements  

 

   Education and Experience  

 

   BS with a minimum of 13 - 15 years of relevant experience or an MS with 10 -13 years of relevant experience, PhD with 3-7 years of relevant experience.  

 

   The degree(s) must be in a major scientific discipline (such as Chemistry or Biology), computer science, informatics or engineering.  

   Desirable Requirements  

 

   Additional skills and knowledge:  

 

   * Experience / expertise in at least one of the following programming languages: JavaScript, VB.NET, C#  

 

   * Experience / expertise in Structured Query Language (SQL) and/or Cypher Query Language (CQL)  

 

   * Understanding of process models, as they apply to business intelligence, and their uses  

 

   * Knowledge of ETL’s and their applications, previous development of ETL’s is a plus  

 

   * Familiar with integration strategies, best practices and implementations  

 

   * Working knowledge of the following database types: relational (SQL Server, Oracle), NoSQL (Mongo) and graph (Neo4j)  

 

   * Familiarity with bioprocess development  

 

   * Good time management and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced team-centered environment  

 

   * Good verbal and written communication skills  

 

   * High level of initiative, independence and the ability to execute work under minimal supervision.
