Role Description

The Senior Associate Scientist position within the Target Protein Engineering Group in Biomedicine Design department is responsible for production of antibody drug targets in mammalian expression systems to provide protein and cellular reagents for therapeutic antibody discovery and characterization. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding and lab experience in expression and/or purification of recombinant proteins in mammalian expression systems. Experience in protein characterization techniques including SDS-PAGE, immunoblotting, and column chromatography techniques and instrumentation is essential. Prior experience in mammalian cell culture and mammalian large scale transient expression systems is desirable. Knowledge and experience in mammalian stable cell generation is a plus. Excellent writing and communication skills, and the ability to accurately document and communicate results are required. Ability to multitask while working with multiple people in a team based environment is essential.

* BS/MS in life sciences with 2+ years hands-on bench experience in Pharmaceutical or Biotech setting working on scientific projects.
* Knowledge and experience with mammalian cell expression platforms, including vectors, strains/cell lines, fusion proteins, purification tags, and expression optimization strategies.
* Proficiency in creation, growth and maintenance of eukaryotic cell cultures.
* Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques, handling and preparing DNA from bacterial cultures, bioinformatics techniques for evaluation and manipulating DNA sequences.
* Strong proficiency with various protein characterization methods (e.g. SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, ELISA) and experience with small scale protein purification.
* Self-starter. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to multi-task without compromising quality and accuracy. Effective management of time and effort appropriately to meet deadlines.
* Strong interactive skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to take direction and offer constructive feedback. Strong collaborative attitude essential. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Light lifting, standing and walking
