Job Description

***Company Overview***
EdiGene is an early stage biotech company created to translate tools in genome-editing technology (CRISPR-Cas system) into transformative medicines to treat serious human diseases and conditions. Our proprietary protein-engineering technology (Nureki et al., Cell 2014, Cell 2015, Cell 2016, Mol. Cell 2017) gives us the edge in developing next generation CRISPR-Cas system for therapeutics applications.

***Position Summary***
EdiGene is looking for a Ph.D. Scientist with interest in viral vector production to join our team in the development of AAV gene therapy vector production. We are preferentially seeking a candidate who has experience in developing AAVs for delivering gene therapy/editing tools, and characterizing them in animal models for future gene editing applications. This position offers an exciting opportunity for developing a cutting-edge technology into medicine in a fast-moving small biotech environment.

***Principal Duties and Responsibilities***
•   Generate research grade AAV-based vectors to support early product development and AAV candidate selection for gene therapy programs
•   Developing, optimizing and performing cell based assays to characterize EdiGene’s gene editing technology towards pre-clinical studies

Requirements

***Job Requirements***
•   PhD in Biological Sciences (e.g. molecular biology, cell biology, biotechnology) or a related field with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in academic or pharmaceutical/biotechnology labs.
•   Extensive knowledge and experience with AAV biology, production, purification, and pre-clinical studies in animal models.
•   Experience with a variety of molecular biology techniques, such as cloning (plasmid construction, mutagenesis), si/shRNA techniques, western blots/Elisa, growth and survival assays.
•   Experience with gene therapy, such as AAV, lentivirus, mRNA therapy, oligonucleotides, gene editing using CRISPR/Cas9 etc.
•   Able to set up experiments and assay systems through reading literature and published protocols.
•   Experience with non-viral DNA/RNA delivery methods, including lipid nanoparticles is a plus.
•   Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
•   Attention to details and meticulous hands are highly desired.

***Additional Preferred Qualifications***
•   Experience developing and transferring viral vectors (preferably AAV) through CMC to a GMP environment.
•   Assist in developing and implementing a preclinical research plan from discovery to IND/CTA

***Job Site*** EdiGene is located at Mass Innovation Labs in the heart of Kendall Square, just minutes away from MIT and MBTA.
