Job Description

WAVE Life Sciences USA seeks an experienced and highly motivated Scientist/Senior Scientist to join its research team in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  This is an ideal position for an individual with a strong background in drug discovery and iPS technologies who thrives in a team-oriented, fast-paced, and cross-disciplinary biotech environment.  The candidate will be responsible for designing, executing and analyzing experiments, as well as leading scientific teams focused on therapeutic programs and discovery research platforms.  This candidate will contribute to all levels of in vitro and in vivo discovery research to support development of optimized nucleic acid therapies in multiple disease areas, with a major focus on neurology programs.  Prior experience in industry exploring or utilizing nucleic acids for therapeutic modulation of gene expression is strongly preferred.

May include some or all of the following:

Outstanding aptitude for experimental design and execution, efficient assay development and creative problem solving
Expertise in neuroscience, particularly in genetic disorders of the CNS.
Expertise in cell culture systems, including reprogramming of patient-derived fibroblasts and neuronal differentiation of iPSC.
Expertise in molecular biology, including mRNA quantification methods and design of plasmid constructs for reporter assays.
Competent at analysis and interpretation of data from cell and animal pharmacology studies
Experience with oligonucleotides as modalities for the regulation of gene expression in cellular and animal models
Adept at preparation of clear and accurate reports for internal and external projects
Capacity to be highly productive in a fluid and fast-paced work environment
Collaborative team player who is also proficient at leading projects and motivating teams


Ph.D. in Neuroscience or related discipline with at least 5-8 years of drug discovery biology research experience in an industry (biotech or pharma) environment
Experience in the research and development of oligonucleotide therapeutics
Hands on experience with preclinical animal models
Familiarity with pre-clinical drug development and IND-enabling phase of therapeutic programs
Experience within a start-up or small biotech environment
