Job Description

Maverick Therapeutics is a startup biotechnology company located in Brisbane, CA.  We are focused on the development of novel T-cell engaging therapeutics for oncology indications. Maverick is looking for an energetic and highly motivated Scientist to aid in our molecular cloning efforts and join our growing team.

Key responsibilities:
•   Screening of phage and cis-display libraries to identify and isolate novel target binding domains
•   Design and selection of phage and yeast display libraries to affinity mature selected target binding domains
•   Database analysis and RT-PCR to enable the cloning and expression of relevant target proteins
•   Design and construction of expression vectors for the production of therapeutic proteins
•   Gel electrophoresis, ELISA assays and PCR
•   Maintain cell lines for use in transfections, T cell assays and other experiments
•   Interface with other members of the research group to identify which candidate drug molecules need to be tested in biological assays
•   Analyze data and communicate results with the rest of the research group
•   With minimal supervision troubleshoot experiments and provide solutions to increase data quality and assay throughput
•   Adapt to and perform new responsibilities depending on the needs of the Harpoon Therapeutics, such as performing molecular biology, cell biology, protein expression, and target validation experiments


Skills and Qualifications:
•   5+ years of industry experience with:
    1.   Designing and cloning protein expression constructs
    2.   Screening phage display, cis display and yeast display libraries
    3.   PCR, qPCR, protein gels, western blots, plasmid production
    4.   Analyzing data with Microsoft Excel, GraphPad Prism and Lasergene
•   A proven ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changing situations
•   A degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or the like
