Job Description

The Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation (GNF) serves as a bridge between basic science and preclinical drug discovery for Novartis’ global research organization, the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR). GNF’s scientists and engineers are committed to pushing the boundaries of science in pursuit of new medicines, exploiting their world-class expertise in advanced automation technologies to tackle the complexity of biological systems.

We seek a highly-motivated and independent scientist with both in vitro and in vivo experience to join the General Medical Biology Department at GNF. The selected candidate will have a track record of developing cell-based models for the characterization of novel targets as well as animal models for target validation studies. The candidate is expected to independently execute and analyze experiments as part of a fast paced multi-disciplinary drug discovery team.

Requirements

Primary Requirements:
• The ideal candidate for this position should be highly motivated and have a B.S. / M.S. degree in biology (or relevant area) with a minimum of 5 years of full-time laboratory experience
• Track record of in vivo development and validation of animal models of disease, preferably with a focus on respiratory diseases
• Diverse skill set in cell biology and molecular biology with experience in assay development and target identification approaches
• A high level of self-motivation and the ability to independently conceive, execute, and interpret a complete range of experiments
• Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as impeccable organization with respect to experimentation, data analysis, and record keeping
