PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:
• Conducts research utilizing multiple experimental techniques.
• Performs cell morphology assessment and blood smear evaluations.
• Investigates and develops new procedures under the guidance of a research scientist, project coordinator, or R&D Manager.
• May act as lead scientist on one project and contributor to other projects.
• May supervise technical personnel.
• Interacts with other groups and shares information; participates in team activities.


CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
• Understands and consistently follows documented procedures.
• Plans and executes assigned projects; utilizes thorough technical and theoretical understanding of relevant techniques.
• Applies quantitative methods: analyzes data, evaluates results, forms conclusions, and provides/implements process or document improvements.
• Executes experiments; participates in experimental design.
• Utilizes DOE where appropriate.
• May assist in the design of experiments for others.
• Actively uses the appropriate resources to conduct literature searches.
• Applies basic computer skills (includes word processing, spreadsheets, instrumentation-related and Abbott network systems).
• Produces reports and documents utilizing advanced writing skills.
• Utilizes analytical instruments; trains others in their operation.
• Recognizes and resolves technical problems. Prepares and delivers presentations of project results to others; presents data to larger and more diverse audiences.
• Teaches processes and problem solving techniques. May lead others in project teams.
• Participates in project planning and updates.
• Prepares and aligns goals with manager's goals.
• Influences decision-making through negotiation, addressing conflict, and by building productive working relationships within a project. Participate in technology teams.


POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY / SCOPE:
• Contributes to the definition and timely achievement of overall project goals. Ensures activities are consistent with project plan.
• Responsible for own Redbook documentation, and for the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of experimental results.
• Summarizes data and analyzes results, formulates experimental conclusions, and reviews project progress with supervisor.
• Actively participates in routine maintenance, lab safety; may assume roles of responsibility, such as training or document control.

Requirements

Ph.D. in a Life or Physical Science; or B.S. in a Life or Physical Science with 4+ years related lab/industrial experience; or M.S. with 2+ years relevant experience.Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics.


Medical Technology degree and Ability to perform manual differentials of peripheral whole blood smears, body fluid adn bone marrow staining and analysis.


 


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS


Ph.D. in a Life or Physical Science; or B.S. in a Life or Physical Science with 4+ years related lab/industrial experience; or M.S. with 2+ years relevant experience.
