Job Description

DNS is seeking a highly motivated hands-on PhD-level Research Scientist to and develop and conduct radioligand binding and receptor occupancy studies, as well as functional studies for the assessment of drug target engagement and mechanism of action of novel DNS compounds. The candidate should have work experience in animal handling and dosing, brain tissue collection and sectioning. The candidate is expected to design and execute in vitro/ex vivo/in vivo experiments, provide scientific and creative leadership, demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Expertise in immunohistochemistry and imaging analysis is highly desirable. Additional responsibilities will include analyzing/summarizing experimental data, reporting data to management and project teams, and serving as a member on project teams.

Essential laboratory duties will include:

• Handling, dosing and tissue harvesting from animals.
• Design and execution of in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo experiments to evaluate target engagement and functional modulation of CNS signaling pathways by DNS compounds.
• Histochemical, biochemical and protein characterization of brain tissues and slices.

Requirements

• A Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience, Neuropharmacology and Biochemistry, a demonstrated ability to conduct research independently at the post-doctoral level.
• Experience in a drug discovery environment preferred
• Experience in radioligand binding and target engagement assessment, and neuronal signaling research related to neuroplasticity is preferred. Experience with rodent pharmacokinetic analysis is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines and to adapt to a fast moving and challenging environment.
• Demonstrated initiative and innovative thinking both individually and within a multidisciplinary team environment
• Excellent written, and oral communication skills
