Job Description

Reports To:  Director, Project Lead STING Program

Summary & Scope of Position:

We are seeking a dedicated, energetic and creative scientist who will contribute to the development of clinical candidates utilizing proprietary small molecules that modulate the STING signaling pathway. The ideal candidate will possess diverse scientific knowledge and have excellent laboratory skills in the areas of molecular biology, immunology and animal models of cancer and/or autoimmune disease. The primary focus of this position will be to work with the pre-clinical STING project team to conduct critical path activities necessary to advance an investigational agent to human trials.

Requirements

Primary Responsibilities:

•Contribute to the research and development of product candidates utilizing proprietary STING pathway compounds
•Develop and execute in vitro cell based assays, as well as in vivo experiments to evaluate the potency and mechanism of action of novel compounds and formulations
•Work with research and development groups in the design and implementation of safety and pharmacokinetic characterization to support clinical development
•Evaluate, interpret and trouble-shoot scientific results and present work internally on a regular basis and at external scientific meetings
•Contribute to writing of regulatory documents, patent applications and scientific publications
•Keep up-to-date with relevant literature and communicate pertinent information to the wider group
•Initiate and/or maintain relationships with contract research laboratories and academic collaborators
•Foster strategic external collaborations with thought leaders

Requirements:

•Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or a related discipline
•Relevant post-doctoral work with 0-2 years of industrial experience in pre-clinical research and development
•Sound scientific knowledge of innate and acquired immunity
•Experience with in vivo experimental design and procedures related to mouse tumor models including tumor implantation, tumor measurement, survival analysis, and organ isolation strongly preferred
•Knowledge of and prior research experience with autoimmune disease models preferred
•Expertise with tissue culture, cellular and biochemical assays
•Demonstrated knowledge of a wide range of in vitro and ex vivo immunoassays (e.g. RT-QPCR, flow cytometry, ELISA, multiplex cytokine assays (CBA/Luminex), ICS, ELISPOT, IHC assays, etc. is required
•Experience using analytical software is required (e.g. Excel, GraphPad Prism, FlowJo)
•Understanding of and experience with the drug development process, particularly for vaccines and/or other protein drugs a plus
•Familiarity with the field of immuno-oncology a plus
•Good organization and excellent problem solving skills with the ability to adhere to tight timelines
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
•Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and adopt new skills as needed
•Ability to work independently as well as contribute actively to an integrated team
•The successful candidate must possess a significant publication and/or intellectual property record
