Main Duties and Responsibilities

The role will be to establish analytical tools and protein product understanding required for development and progression of therapeutic proteins from research, to clinical development to commercialization. 

Day to day responsibilities include designing and executing detailed characterization of protein products, including product variant isolation / enrichment and characterization, identification of protein degradation pathways, structure-functional analysis, and determination of critical quality attributes. Responsible for development and optimization of analytical methods and testing to progress development of therapeutic proteins. Represent the analytical development group on analytical method transfer and validation teams at commercial QC lab. Make detailed experimental observations, review and analyze data, and interpret results.  Author technical reports and regulatory filings. Work with CMC team to support manufacturing process and formulation development. Present scientific data to both internal audiences and external scientific colleagues.  Follow SOPs, policies, and regulations, and perform routine lab equipment maintenance.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

Must have a MS or Ph.D. or equivalent in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related field. PhD degree with 0-3 years for Scientist I and 3-7 years for Scientist II. MS degree with 4-8 years for Scientist I and 6-10 years for Scientist II.

Individual must also have a strong understanding of biochemistry and protein chemistry. Experience in chromatography and electrophoresis method development for protein analysis (eg using RPHPLC, IEC, HIC, capillary electrophoresis). Experience in the design and execution of protein structure/function studies. Analytical method tech transfer, qualification and validation experience. Possess excellent verbal and written skills. Effective and collaborative cross-functional team member in a fast-paced environment. Good multi-tasking, time management and organizational skills are essential.

Desirable Requirements

Knowledge with GMP and GLP, is plus.

Experience in an industrial analytical lab working with therapeutic proteins are desirable.
