Job Description

CytomX Therapeutics is unlocking the potential of antibody therapeutics in oncology by developing a novel therapeutic antibody class of highly targeted Probody™ therapeutics.  

We seek a highly motivated individual to support the protein/antibody characterization needs for all discovery and development programs at CytomX. The successful candidate will work as a bench Scientist I/II in the Process Sciences Department and contribute to the analytical method development needs of the company. This position reports to a Senior Scientist II in the department.

Responsibilities

•   Develop HPLC (RP-HPLC), capillary electrophoresis and ELISA based analytical methods for protein/antibody characterization
•   Serve as investigative lead on potential new Probodies, PDCs and Bispecifics programs with respect to analytical methods (including but not limited to RP-HPLC, Ion exchange, SEC and HIC)
•   Apply scientific principles, current technologies, and personal experience to design and execute appropriate experiments to solve a given problem.
•   Facilitate the development of SOPs for various analytical methods and the qualification of methods required for technical transfer to CMO/CRO facilities
•   Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation as required
•   Troubleshoot assay performance as needed
•   Guide junior staff in development work
•   Independently evaluate literature to propose strategic ideas for analytical method development for Probodies, PDCs and bispecifics
•   Document experimental work in notebooks, SOPs and reports
•   Communicate results and propose scientifically based recommendations

Requirements

•   PhD in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related discipline with 0-7+ years of experience in the biotechnology industry; MS in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related discipline with 10+ years of experience in the biotechnology industry; BS in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related discipline with 15+ years of experience in the biotechnology industry
•   Hands-on knowledge of technical scientific principles for most of the following analytical techniques: HPLC/UPLC (reverse phase, ion exchange, size exclusion); working knowledge of GC, GC/MS, LC/MS is highly desirable
•   Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex data
•   Ability to guide junior staff in method development work; previous supervisory experience preferred
•   Highly motivated to learn and support the drug development efforts at CytomX
•   Motivated self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment with a proactive attitude
•   Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•   Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and the flexibility to align daily work with project needs
•   Must be well organized, have a strong work ethic and be diligent in data documentation
