   Main Duties and Responsibilities  

   As a Scientist I/Scientist II, this position is focused on late stage cell culture process development in the Cell Culture & Fermentation Science group within Biopharmaceutical Development in R&D.  You will be a scientific leader with a broad knowledge of cell culture process development, media/feed development and optimization, and process characterization. Also, you will be involve in developing and optimizing cell culture processes for the production of therapeutic proteins including mAbs and participating in the transfer of processes to clinical and commercial sites. You will also involve in process characterization work including risk assessment and studying the process sensitivity with respect to various process parameters and their interactions using DOE and statistical analysis. You are expected to be familiar with the principles of scale-up/scale-down, and scale-down model development for cell culture process. As a Scientist I/II, you will contribute to authoring / reviewing / approving development reports and CMC sections in regulatory submissions such as IND and BLA. Also, you will be expected to have in-depth knowledge with a good understanding of links within and outside of cell culture to support successful development of late stage biologicals. You will collaborate with management and staff to identify and solve scientific and technical challenges of the field that will enable meeting MedImmune portfolio/pipeline goals.  You will be a matrix leader with no supervision responsibility and will be expected to spend significant amount of time in the Lab. As a scientific leader within Cell Culture and Fermentation Science, you will be expected to represent the function in cross functional teams within Biopharmaceutical Development.  

Requirements

   Essential Requirements  

   Scientist I:  

 
       
  •      0-3 years of experience in the area of process development    
  •  

   Scientist II:  

 
       
  •      3+ years of experience in the area of process of development    
  •  

   For both  

 
       
  •      Ph.D. degree in (Bio)Chemical Engineering / Biotechnology / Biology or related science / engineering disciplines.    
  •  

   Desirable Requirements  

 
       
  •      Excellent communication and presentation skills are expected.    
  •    
  •      Ability to work well in a fast-paced collaborative environment, with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit are required.    
  •    
  •      Experiences with evolving late stage development concepts such as QbD and PAT are a plus.    
  •    
  •      Expertise in process modeling / simulation is also desired.
