Summary

Organize, coordinate and develop technical components of new methodologies, staining techniques and antibodies for immunofluorescent (IF) and immunohistochemistry (IHC). To include single and multi-plex assay.  Work directly with senior pathologist to optimize assays for research and early clinical work.

Responsibilities      

  • Leads the team in developing new multiplex and single plex IF and IHC assays
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the field of IF and IHC and pursue self development programs.
  • Initiates development and deployment of new antibodies in the laboratory based on scientific need.
  • Works directly with senior pathologists to analyse data and determine next steps.
  • Organizes tasks on a daily basis to coordinate the workflow of developmental and validation work being done in the laboratory.
  • Continuously updates and oversees current antibodies, and investigates for improved methods of staining with current antibodies, as well as different titers, etc.
  • Identifies variations and methods to correct problem areas and control the immunohistochemistry area's productivity and utilization of time and workflow.
  • Oversight for scientific and technical conduct of technically demanding immunohistochemical and tissue/cell based experiments and biomarker development strategies.
  • Makes detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets results and demonstrates scientific rigor in assessing own data and that of others.
  • Effectively presents results at internal meetings and external scientific meetings.
  • Conducts complex research projects and typically conducts more than one project at a time.
  • Work is performed with limited direction; has latitude in determining scientific objectives.
  • Conducts research focused on the translational aspects of drug development in collaboration with senior pathologist and other individuals within the R&D department.
  • Prepares precise technical reports, summaries, protocols, quantitative analyses and maintains appropriate documentation.
  • Has demonstrated leadership.

Requirements

Qualifications

PhD with 0-3 years experience or MS with 8-10 years experience and BS with 10-13 years experience.    

Experience

Minimum of 1-7 years experience to include IF assay development and analysis

Knowledge/skills

Strong Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescent skills

Experience in immunofluorescent analysis

Leadership skills.

Proven project management skills.

Understanding of the drug development process for biologicals.

Strong understanding of immunology.

Basic understanding of pharmacokinetics and PK/PD relationships.

Flexible.

Attention to detail.

Good time management and organization – capable of working with minimal direction. Proven good communication and global working skills.

Excellent team working skills.
