The Department of Biology is currently seeking a motivated scientist to join our Gastrointestinal Inflammation group. The successful candidate will be instrumental in leading the design, execution and interpretation of in vitro and in vivo experimental studies. These studies will include target validation, biology support, biomarker discovery and clinical indication support for our GI inflammation programs. The candidate will have ample opportunity to integrate their knowledge and experience in a creative and innovative way to help drive our drug discovery programs. This position requires a Ph.D. in the biological sciences with knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Immunology / Inflammation, Microbiome or Gastrointestinal Physiology. 1-3 years of research experience in an academic or pharmaceutical setting is required. The ideal candidate will have a track record of success and a good understanding of the etiology of GI inflammation.


•   PhD in immunology or related field with track record in GI biology
•   Solid understanding of GI inflammation as well as basic biology, immunology, and cell physiology
•   Experience working with cell culture (primary cells, cell lines, PBMCs, immune cell preps)
•   Experience in flow cytometry, qPCR, ELISA, multiplex cytokine assays (Luminex), and other cell based functional assays highly desired
•   Familiarity with experimental approaches/models to assess gastrointestinal diseases, spanning in vivo, in vitro and translational techniques if necessary
•   Excellent organizational and communication skills to manage multiple projects in a matrix research organization
•   The successful candidate will be an ambitious self-starter, be motivated to apply his/her skills to meet diverse project needs, and enjoy working in a dynamic team environment.
•   Desire to work in a fast-paced environment and proven ability to focus on activities that enable decision making.
•   Communicate the status of projects and related issues to management.
