The Assay Development Scientist will work as a member of Biology Group. The scientist will provide experimental support for MyoKardia’s discovery programs and help to expand the development of our platform. Duties will include enzymatic characterization of sarcomere proteins as well as determining the molecular mechanism of action of small molecule agents. In addition, responsibilities will include in vitro biochemical assay development and optimization, mechanism-of-action studies, develop experimental methods to assess protein-protein interactions, presenting work at internal and external meetings and preparing data for team presentations. The scientist will work with on scientific problems of moderate to high complexity. The scientist will work in a multidisciplinary environment and is expected to work effectively with other members of a team.


•   Experience with biochemical assays using a variety of detection methods is required.
•   Experience with enzyme kinetics is required.
•   Strong knowledge of biophysical methods is required.
•   Knowledge of stopped-flow kinetics is preferred.
•   Knowledge of myosin biophysics or muscle biology is preferred
•   Must be able to participate and effectively communicate in a team environment
•   Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are required

•   Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biophysics, Biology in a related field with 0-2 years of industry experience
•   Excellent verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are required.
•   Ability to plan and perform experiments, in a manner consistent with the timeline and objectives of ongoing Research Projects.
•   Ability to operate complex scientific equipment, select appropriate methods and techniques to perform experiments, analyze data.
•   Able to independently recognize anomalous results and to interpret experimental outcome. Practical knowledge of data analysis tools.  
•   Expected to participate and present data at internal and external meetings.
•   Highly motivated, seeking scientific and personal development, keen to learn and apply new technologies.
