Job Description

OpenEye Scientific Software, Inc. seeks to hire a professional software developer to join a small team delivering scientific solutions to drug discovery problems.  The successful candidate will contribute to the team’s shared responsibility for delivering established products, building new technologies into customer solutions, and establishing new algorithms for cheminformatics and drug discovery. The team you will join includes several PhD-level scientific developers with expertise in small-molecules and long track-records of delivering C++ applications for drug-discovery problems. The candidate will have a key role in actively expanding OpenEye software capabilities to handle proteins and other large molecules.
Responsibilities will include improving existing methods and developing new methods for protein data preparation, charge representation, loop modeling, side-chain sampling, variable-domain structure prediction and related scientific algorithms.
Must be willing to work at our headquarters office located in Santa Fe, NM.  Relocation fees will be covered.  This is NOT a remote work position.

Requirements

•   5+ years of experience using C++
•   Working knowledge of experimental and theoretical methods in structural biology
•   Experience in scientific methods development, implementation, and validation
•   Knowledge of software development lifecycle and the ability to work under a development schedule, balancing features and delivery deadlines
•   Team-oriented  
•   Ability and desire to learn new ideas and adapt to new development practices
•   MSc. in structural biology or equivalent experience
Beneficial but not required:
•   Experience using Java and Python
•   Working in a multi-platform environment
•   Experience with large molecule structural determination
•   Knowledge of chemistry and/or drug discovery & development
•   Knowledge & skill in programming and professional software development practices & tools
