Responsibilities   
The immunogenicity research group at Lilly’s Biotechnology Center in San Diego seeks a Ph.D. - level scientist with knowledge and research experience in molecular and cellular immunology and protein biochemistry. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of a combined in-vitro- and in-silico-guided determination of protein immunogenicity, and T-cell epitope mapping. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated team player, with a passion for goal-oriented scientific research and with a strong publication record in the area of antigen processing and presentation or T cell activation, and possessing a sound theoretical and practical knowledge of immunology, cell biology, molecular biology and biochemistry.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:
•   Critically analyze, interpret and report experimental results. Draw appropriate conclusions and identify new strategies to mapping epitopes and de-immunogenizing biotherapeutics.
•   Supervise Research Associates as needed, and under the direct, but limited supervision of management.
•   Ensures that laboratory activities are performed in compliance of GLPs requirements.
•   Organize and present data to support decisions in collaboration with immunogenicity team manager.
•   Review the literature, attend meetings and conferences and maintain an updated knowledge in the field.
•   Contribute to the preparation of scientific products, such as original research publications and presentations.
•   Contribute to the writing of reports, protocols, brochures, for internal use and publication, as well as other regulatory documents when appropriate.

Requirements


•   Ph.D. degree in immunology, biochemistry or similar field with at least 2 years of successful post-doctoral experience.

Additional Skills/Preferences   
•   Strong publication record in relevant area.
•   Industry experience is preferred.
•   Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
•   Analytical and problem solving capabilities.
•   Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
•   Able to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
•   Expertise in molecular and cellular immunology of human immune system, particularly in antigen processing and presentation and T cell response.
•   Relevant skills include an appropriate combination of immunological techniques (FACS, intracellular staining, ELISA, ELISpot, etc.), cell and molecular biology (transient and stable engineering of cell lines, immunocytochemistry, microscopy, molecular cloning, RT-PCR, qPCR), and biochemistry/biophysical (protein chemistry analysis, 1D and 2D PAGE analysis, blotting) techniques.
•   Knowledge of pharmacology with experience in ligand/receptor interaction (SPR, calorimetry, binding affinity and kinetics determination).
•   Knowledge of molecular modeling and molecular dynamic simulation systems.
•   Excellent written and verbal communication, work planning, data analysis and record keeping skills (with strong attention to detail).
•   Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.
