The Lidstrom laboratory located within the Department of Chemical Engineering and Microbiology has an outstanding opportunity for a  full time Research SCIENTIST to perform microbiological research, manage communication among the project research team, and support day-to-day operation of the lab.

This position will assume significant responsibility for the oversight of a recently funded multi-investigator project on methanotrophic bacteria. The Research SCIENTIST will independently work to develop and implement research protocols, oversee the fermentation facility, carry out data analysis, write manuscripts, progress reports, and sections of grant proposals, hire and supervise student assistants, manage the safety plan, and coordinate communication with the entire research team.

Laboratory management includes ordering, maintaining records, serving as the safety officer, supervising hourly students, and organizing communication for a large multi-institution research project.  Successful applicant must have demonstrated skills in organization and management.

Will be required to work in a cross-functional environment, establish relationships and coordinate across laboratory and team personnel.
Requirements:
•     Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering or a biological science.
•     Three years of experimental research carried out in a research laboratory.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Desired:
•       Doctoral degree in Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering or a biological science.
•      Additional year of experience with experimental research carried out in a research laboratory.
•       Experience with general molecular biology and microbiology techniques.
•     Experience with fermentation equipment.
•     Experience in prokaryotic molecular biology techniques.
