General Description:
The Research Program Assistant II will be responsible for screening, recruitment, data collection, and data entry for ongoing research projects.

Duties and Responsibilities: Complete screening process in community and clinic settings to identify potential participants. Recruit and consent potential study participants according to protocols’ inclusion and exclusion criteria; be knowledgeable of the protocols so that study activities are completed correctly. Ensure proper written informed consent from each study participant is obtained prior to entering study; ensure proper storage of consent forms in participants’ research records. Complete status update reports accurately and in a timely fashion to inform the study coordinator. Data collection responsibilities include abstracting data from paper and electronic medical records, conducting baseline and follow-up interviews over the phone or in person, and completing home visits to collect biological materials all according to written procedure manuals.

Data management responsibilities include inputting, organizing, editing, and verifying accuracy of data in databases. Packing and preparing biological materials for shipping. Understand the importance and impact of data integrity regarding honest reporting of sensitive and confidential patient information. Adhere to guidelines regarding the sensitivity and confidential nature of patient information. Exercise good judgment, tact, and sensitivity at all times. Participate in weekly staff meetings to report on screening, recruitment, and data collection progress and resolve problems. Work independently and under the direction of the study coordinator to ensure successful completion of the clinical research study. Process participant payments and maintain accurate financial records.

Requirements



Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required. Two years of related experience required. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.Excellent oral and written communication skills and interviewing techniques. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks, detail oriented, self-motivated, strong interpersonal skills, ability to use personal computer; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; database and spreadsheet knowledge. Must be able to effectively prioritize and work on multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines and demonstrate excellent time management skills and efficiency. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. Highly attentive to detail and deadlines. Must have own transportation and be able to work in high-risk inner-city neighborhoods. JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.*This position is an essential position which requires the incumbent to work from home during an event (weather or otherwise) that causes JHU to curtail its operations by closing some or all the university’s offices.  NOTE: The successful candidate(s) for this position will be subject to a pre-employment background check. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
