Job Description

Job Purpose

We are seeking a talented and experienced Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to join the In Vitro Biology/Pharmacology Department. This individual will join a multi-disciplinary team to develop, automate and conduct biochemical and cell-based assays to help drive lead optimization and obtain mechanistic insights for all research programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

This individual will play a key role in developing, optimizing, and automating new assays, conducting compound screening for SAR support, performing data analysis, and contributing to compound mechanism of action studies. As part of a multidisciplinary team, this individual will participate in drug discovery projects in several therapeutic areas and across multiple target classes.



This position requires a BS/MS in a relevant scientific discipline and at least 3 years of drug discovery experience in a biotechnology/pharmaceutical setting. The ideal candidate should have experience in assay development, compound screening, and data analysis in a drug discovery environment, and a broad range of laboratory skills. This individual should be an excellent team player, enjoy working in an interdisciplinary environment, and be highly flexible and responsive to project needs.

•   Practical experience in and a solid understanding of biochemistry, cell biology, and assay development principles are required. The successful candidate will also have strong experimental design and troubleshooting skills.
•   Mammalian cell culture experience is required. Experience with primary cells, flow cytometry, and high-content imaging is preferred.
•   Experience with development and optimization of biochemical and cell-based assays using a variety of readout technologies is required and should include several of the following: ELISA, TR-FRET, AlphaScreen, receptor binding/signaling, reporter assays.
•   Experience with operating laboratory automation (including liquid handlers and plate readers) is preferred.
•   Excellent data analysis skills and experiences with a variety of scientific software applications are required.
•   Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, and organizational skills are required.
•   The successful candidate will be an energetic self-starter, be motivated to apply his/her skills to meet diverse project needs, and enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic team environment.
