Job Description

Maverick Therapeutics is pioneering the next generation of redirected T cell therapeutics in oncology. The current opening offers an opportunity to propel research programs utilizing our novel immuno-therapeutic platform toward early stage clinical investigation in a fast-paced and highly innovative company.

Job Description:
Maverick Therapeutics is seeking a motivated tumor biologist to discover and develop novel therapeutics that mobilize the immune system against cancer while protecting healthy tissue. This role will work directly with project leaders and will be responsible for critical-path studies from early discovery to IND submission. We are looking for exceptional candidates to join our multidisciplinary team in an exciting and dynamic R&D environment.

Responsibilities:

1.   Participate in therapeutic T cell retargeting programs from target validation through to candidate selection, and into Phase 1 clinical trials.

2.   Characterize therapeutic candidates in vitro as part of the lead selection process, including target tumor antigen expression, T cell immunophenotyping, T cell dependent cytotoxicity and cytokine release assays.

3.   Participate in the analysis of preclinical in vivo pharmacology studies including efficacy, pharmacokinetic and biomarker studies, as well as toxicology studies.

4.   Support immunohistochemistry studies to identify and quantitate target expression in tumor and normal tissue.

5.   Participate in translational research studies focusing on patient stratification, biomarker identification, disease indication, and dual targeting strategies.

6.   Contribute to the writing of relevant research reports to be included in regulatory filings.

7.   Communicate scientific progress to management.

8.   Maintain expertise and awareness in state-of-the-art cancer T cell retargeting protocols.

9.   Maintain laboratory notebooks and keep in compliance with Maverick Therapeutics policies.

10.   Prioritize group’s efforts to align with and meet or exceed company goals and timelines.

Requirements

Qualifications:

1.   B.S./M.S. in cell biology, immunology, pharmacology or related field with 5+ years of relevant working experience in oncology drug discovery or translational medicine.

2.   The ideal candidate will have biopharmaceutical industry experience with a focus in immuno-oncology.

3.   Demonstrated experience working in therapeutic candidate lead selection studies.

4.   Experience culturing and maintaining human tumor cell lines and primary human cells, preferably T cells, as well as retroviral gene transfer into tumor cell lines.

5.   Experience running preclinical in vitro assays including flow cytometry, western blots, ELISAs, qPCR, T cell dependent cytotoxicity.

6.   Up-to-date knowledge of T cell retargeting protocols is preferred.

7.   Expertise in the design, execution, and analysis of in vivo oncology efficacy studies is desirable.

8.   Experience with immunohistochemistry and fluorescence microscopy is preferred.

9.   History of success as a member of cross-functional drug discovery teams is required.

10.   Must have strong oral and written communication skills.

11.   Ability to participate in a cross-functional work environment is critical and to work independently is expected.
